Periodontology

Periodontology – one of the segments of dentistry specialising in treatment and prevention of gum disease and other teeth surrounding tissues. Early signs of gum infection are: bleeding gums during brushing, presence of an off flavour and a light specific breath odor. With the progression of the disease there is a possible deterioration – evident gum bleeding, teeth baring and increase in their sensitivity, presense of a definite specific breath smell.

In all abovementioned cases a consultation is necessary with a specialist- a dentist, who depending on the stage of the disease and the dynamics of its progression will appoint an appropriate treatment, and in more severe cases choose surgical intervention, as well as prophylaxis and diet correction.
